On February 9, Grade 11 students of Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School participated in an interdisciplinary experiential activity under the theme “Green Living” at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture.
At the Academy, students had the opportunity to directly practise sowing seeds, planting crops, and identifying the chemical components of fertilisers in order to better understand the factors that influence plant growth. In addition, they explored the process of caring for mushrooms, experienced honey extraction, and even made candles from beeswax, gaining a deeper appreciation of the cycle of sustainable agricultural production.

Through this trip, students enhanced their capacity for self-directed learning, problem-solving, and creativity, while also developing communication and collaboration skills as they worked together to complete group tasks. The activities were designed to foster core values within the philosophy of High Performance Learning (HPL) currently implemented at the school, such as empathy, meta-thinking, and analytical ability.
Most importantly, these “green living” experiences contribute to the realisation of the school’s goal of building an Eco School, where each student is nurtured with a love for nature, a heightened awareness of environmental protection, and a gradual adoption of sustainable lifestyles. Practical actions during the trip, such as conserving water and using organic vegetables, helped reinforce this vision.
At Nguyen Sieu School, interdisciplinary experiential activities with strong practical relevance are regularly organised to provide students with opportunities for holistic development in knowledge, skills, and character. Through such experiences, students cultivate scientific thinking, build proactive attitudes, and develop a sense of responsibility towards the community, alongside a positive outlook on life - important qualities that will help them stand firm in the future.
